Mobile App Testing. No Jailbreaking Required.

  • Jailbreaking means relying on unfamiliar code from an unknown source
  • A jailbreak for the iPhone 5 is not yet available so app testing solutions that rely on jailbroken devices cannot test apps for the newest iPhone
  • Jailbreaking can impact the warranty provided by the device manufacturer

In late October, an exemption to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) was passed by the Library of Congress. The exemption temporarily allows jailbreaking smartphones without violating copyrights, but was not extended to tablets.

This means that companies using mobile app testing processes that require jailbroken tablets face increased risk if they continue their current practices. In a nutshell, jailbreaking represents statutory, security, business and contractual risks. Learn more about the recent legislation and how Mobile Labs Trust enables mobile app testing without jailbreaking.
